Key Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher in providing a positive, safe, and academically challenging learning environment for students Support teachers and other staff in instructional matters, including preparing materials, assisting with lessons, and helping to assess student progress Work with students individually or in small groups to provide additional support and guidance, helping to build their confidence and academic skills Help to create a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting respect, empathy, and understanding among students, staff, and the wider community Collaborate with other support staff, including teachers, counselors, and administrators, to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and supportive education Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: Must be 19 years of age or older Show proof of one of the following requirements: Bachelor's Degree or higher 60 semester hours of college coursework High School Diploma or High School Equivalency AND Passing score on ACT Work Keys Test OR Passing score on ETS ParaPro Test Hold one of the following licenses: Professional Educator's License (PEL) Substitute License (SUB) Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-PARA) Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience working in an educational setting, either as a teacher, support staff, or volunteer Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider community Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances, including the ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider community Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances, including the ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to supporting the ongoing learning and development of our staff.
