The Role: Software Engineer (L5) - Consumer Engineering We're seeking an accomplished Software Engineer to join our Consumer Engineering team. As a critical member of our engineering squad, you'll be working on the backend systems that power our API platform, messaging, personalization, sign-up, partnership, payments, and billing systems. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on our business by solving complex problems in distributed systems, driving large-scale projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and ship high-quality software that meets the needs of our global membership base. Take ownership of your work, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and reliability. Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to drive project goals and objectives. Work on complex distributed systems, optimizing for low latency and high scalability. Drive large projects from conception to launch, navigating ambiguity and making key technical decisions. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration. Continuously improve your skills and knowledge, contributing to the growth and development of your colleagues. Essential Qualifications: 6-8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on building scalable, distributed systems. Proficiency in object-oriented programming, with a strong emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code. Experience with systems design, crafting solutions that meet a range of product and engineering goals. A track record of driving real business impact through your technical expertise and collaborative approach. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on large-scale, low-latency distributed systems. Background in working with cloud-based technologies and microservices architecture. Knowledge of machine learning and data science principles, and how they can be applied to drive business outcomes. Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git. Skills and Competencies: To succeed in this role, you'll need a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and soft skills. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package that includes: A salary range of $100,000 - $720,000, determined by market indicators and your specific job family, background, skills, and experience.
