About the Role As a Software Engineering Manager at Orange Apron Media, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the products we create and help grow the next generation of engineering talent. Your primary focus will be on building a scalable, robust, and reliable core platform that delivers exceptional performance and user experience. You'll be instrumental in shaping our platform's future, leading a team of highly skilled engineers, and driving our strategic roadmap for the NextGen platform 2.0. Key Focus Areas Platform Modernization & Scalability: Continuously iterate and modernize the platform to support increasing ad load and scale. NextGen Platform Development: Establish the foundation for a next-generation platform that will power our future growth. Support & Maintenance: Lead a dedicated support team responsible for ensuring smooth operation and timely resolution of issues across our core platform. Transparency & Performance Monitoring: Define and monitor SLAs/SLOs, providing clear visibility into platform performance. Talent Development & Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Strategic Planning & Roadmap Development: Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the NextGen platform 2.0, aiming to achieve at least 2x growth in key metrics. Key Responsibilities As a Software Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will be divided into four main areas: Delivery & Execution, Support & Enablement, People, and Learning. Delivery & Execution (30%) Collaborate with product team members to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions. Document, review, and ensure that all quality and change control standards are met. Write custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases. Work with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of critical tooling and platforms. Create meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure proactive issue resolution. Contribute to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, and engineering empowerment. Evaluate new technologies for adoption across the enterprise. Participate in and lead review board sessions to drive consistency across the enterprise. Support & Enablement (10%) Field questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams. Monitor tools and participate in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams. Provide application support for software running in production. Act as a technical escalation point for engineers on the team. People (50%) Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Software Engineers. Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build a world-class Software Engineering Team. Conduct annual and mid-year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback. Foster collaboration with team members to drive consistency across product teams. Act as a proponent of modern software development practices. Guide team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks. Learning (10%) Learn new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations. Build relationships with technology leaders at other companies to learn best practices. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications Mastery of an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java). Legally permitted to work in the United States. Must be eighteen years of age or older. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job. 5 years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Experience working with Retail Media Networks. Experience in building and supporting an AdTech platform. Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Proven ability to effectively manage and lead a team of engineers. Experience in guiding junior team members through Software Engineering fundamentals.
