Key Responsibilities As a Software Engineer Principal, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities that drive the success of our product. Your key responsibilities will include: Delivery & Execution (70%): Collaborating with cross-functional teams (UX, engineering, and product management) to design and develop secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions. Documenting and ensuring that all quality and change control standards are met. Writing custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases. Creating meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution. Contributing to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, or engineering empowerment. Identifying product enhancements to improve the end-user experience. Implementing technical solutions that can be reused across the organization. Defining Service Level Objectives for products to measure reliability and prioritize backlog work. Support & Enablement (20%): Fielding questions from other product teams or support teams. Monitoring tools and participating in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams. Providing application support for software running in production. Proactively monitoring production Service Level Objectives for products. Working with vendors and the open-source community to identify and implement feature enhancements. Triage high-priority issues and outages as they arise. Learning (10%): Participating in and leading learning activities around modern software design and development core practices. Staying up-to-date with new technologies and best practices through reading, tutorials, and videos. Attending conferences and applying new technologies where appropriate. Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and collaborative mindset. The essential qualifications include: Mastery of an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java). Legally permitted to work in the United States. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job. At least 6 years of relevant work experience. Preferred qualifications include: Mastery of a modern scripting language (preferably Python). Experience with modern web application frameworks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Spring MVC, Node.js). Proficiency in writing SQL queries against relational databases. Experience with version control systems (preferably Git). Knowledge of front-end technologies and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, ReactJS, JQuery). Experience with Linux or Unix-based environments. Familiarity with CI/CD toolchains. Understanding of destructive testing methodologies and tools. Experience with cloud computing platforms and automation patterns. Knowledge of production systems design, including High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security.
