Job Summary As an After School Dance Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging dance lessons for children aged 5-12, with a focus on beginner level. You will create a positive and inclusive class environment that encourages kids to feel valued, supported, and motivated to learn. Your goal will be to inspire a love of dance and movement in our students, while promoting physical activity, self-expression, and creativity. Key Responsibilities: Plan and implement engaging dance lessons for children aged 5-12, with a focus on beginner level Create a positive and inclusive class environment that encourages kids to feel valued, supported, and motivated to learn Teach various dance styles and techniques, including but not limited to: Ballet Modern Jazz Hip-Hop Contemporary Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during dance classes Provide positive feedback and encouragement to students, promoting a growth mindset and self-confidence Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and successful program Qualifications: To be successful as an After School Dance Instructor, you will need: A strong passion for dance and a desire to inspire kids through movement and creative expression Experience teaching dance to children, preferably in an after-school setting Knowledge of different dance styles and techniques, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary Ability to create fun, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide positive feedback and encouragement to students Energetic, patient, and knowledgeable, with a strong ability to motivate and encourage kids Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A degree in fine arts, education, or a related field Certification in dance instruction, such as a dance teacher certification or a degree in dance education Experience working with children with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles What We Offer As a valued member of the Apollo After School team, you can expect: A competitive hourly rate of $18-$22, depending on experience A dynamic and supportive work environment that encourages creativity and collaboration Opportunities for professional growth and development, including training and mentorship A chance to make a positive impact on children's lives and inspire a love of dance and movement Work Environment and Culture At Apollo After School, we pride ourselves on creating a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
