Tutor - Reading/ELA

Qualifications for Team Members • Bachelor’s degree in education, the subject area, or a related field • Experience teaching American phonics and reading to children ages 4 and up • Clear, neutral American English pronunciation required, as this role involves phonemic awareness, decoding, and pronunciation modeling • Prior online experience teaching phonics is required • Experience teaching writing aligned with the Common Core is a plus • Must have a writing tablet with e-pen or a touchscreen device with stylus • Patient, respectful, and professional in interactions with students and parents • Able to teach creatively while building skills from the fundamentals • Committed to making learning fun, engaging, and effective • Dependable and punctual—continuity is essential for children’s learning • Clean, minimal background and strong, reliable internet connection Qualified candidates may be asked to provide a short teaching sample. Schedule & Availability • Most students seek tutoring Monday–Friday between 3:00–7:00 PM (PST) • Additional availability (including weekends) is a strong plus • All sessions are scheduled in Pacific Time (PST); please consider this before applying About Us We are a warm, friendly neighborhood tutoring center dedicated to helping children build strong academic skills and confidence while enjoying the learning journey. We believe every child has amazing potential when given the right tools, support, and environment. Hours will gradually build as you are matched with new incoming students. Tutors are provided with core reading and math curricula, so you can focus on teaching rather than curriculum development. This is not a drop-in model—you will have regular, assigned students to support consistency and progress. • Remote positions are unavailable in select U.S. states.
