[Remote] Curriculum Content Developer

The Curriculum Content Developer role involves designing and developing online courses, creating assessments, and ensuring content quality and accessibility standards are met. Responsibilities • Design and develop new online and blended courses in one or more core subject areas: ELA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies • Create comprehensive planning documents that support backward design, including standards mapping, objectives, learning progressions, and assessment plans • Develop instructional content, learning activities, and resources that reflect strong pedagogy and support diverse learners • Ensure course materials are inclusive, culturally responsive, and aligned with StrongMind’s quality standards • Collaborate with editors, instructional designers, media teams, and product/engineering partners to develop and refine course experiences • Modify and enhance existing courses using student performance data, teacher feedback, and continuous improvement processes • Develop formative and summative assessments that accurately measure standards mastery • Write clear, scaffolded learning objectives that support skill-building and instructional progression • Conduct standards alignment checks, crosswalks, and gap analyses to ensure strong alignment across multiple states and frameworks • Apply assessment and instructional best practices to ensure content is valid, reliable, and appropriate for grade level • Review and edit curriculum materials for accuracy, tone, clarity, consistency, and correctness • Ensure materials meet internal style guidelines and accessibility expectations (e.g., WCAG compliance, readability, and appropriate accommodations) • Contribute to documentation, improvement of templates, and process refinements that support scalable, repeatable content development • Leverage internal tools such as Course Builder and other AI-enabled platforms to efficiently draft and refine course content, assessments, and instructional materials • Use AI to support content development and visual/media creation (e.g., infographics, diagrams, or supporting assets) while maintaining instructional and accessibility integrity • Apply critical judgment to AI-generated outputs, ensuring content is: Standards-Aligned, Grade-Appropriate, Instructionally Sound, Accurate & Verifiable, Inclusive & Free of Bias, Follow StrongMind guidelines for responsible AI use, including data privacy, originality, and content quality expectations Skills • Strong understanding of K–12 standards and learning progressions, with expertise in either K–5 or Grades 6–12 (or both) • Demonstrated content expertise in one or more core subjects: ELA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies • Ability to break standards into scaffolded objectives that align with assessment and instruction • Strong curriculum writing and editing skills, including clarity, consistency, and adherence to style expectations • Ability to design assessments that accurately measure standards mastery and support instructional goals • Ability to analyze and interpret student performance data to inform improvements • Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams • Comfort adopting new tools, including AI-enabled curriculum development platforms • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, a core content area (English, Math, Science, Social Studies), or a related field (Master's preferred) • 2–3+ years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or educational publishing • Experience developing curriculum for the relevant grade band (K–5 or 6–12) strongly preferred • Experience in online learning, blended learning, or digital curriculum development • Educational publishing experience and/or experience developing standards-aligned materials at scale • Familiarity with accessibility frameworks (e.g., WCAG, UDL) and inclusive instructional design • Knowledge of learning science, instructional design practices, and assessment design principles • Basic familiarity with software development processes and cross-functional workflows with product/engineering teams • Familiarity with multimedia or interactive content development in online learning environments Benefits • Wellness, Your Way • Unplug for the Holidays • Culture That Celebrates You • Open, Honest & Human • Vibes & Good Times • Solid Benefits, Real Support Company Overview • StrongMind's education technology platform includes student information system, LMS, PSP and more.
