[Remote] Associate Product Counsel

The Associate Product Counsel will counsel product and security teams on privacy and data protection issues, ensuring compliance and supporting incident response efforts. Responsibilities Counsel on user privacy and data protection issues in a dynamic and evolving environment Investigate and assess security and privacy incidents, analyze legal responsibilities, and drive legal and regulatory responses Provide legal support to Dropbox’s incident response program, which deals with a wide range of business issues beyond security and privacy Advise on cross-functional company projects related to data protection, privacy by design, and AI and machine learning Review new products and features for launch readiness Provide sophisticated advice to engineers working on security, threat intelligence, and abuse issues Skills 1–3+ years of experience counseling and/or litigating product, security, or data privacy matters Broad knowledge of data privacy law, information security and cybersecurity, AI/ML, copyright, consumer protection, content regulation, and free expression issues Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to varied audiences Strong business judgment and practical, solutions-oriented approach Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Willingness to support incident response outside of traditional business hours, as needed J.D. from an accredited law school, admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar, and strong academic credentials Deep expertise in, and demonstrated passion for, technology Prior experience supporting SaaS, AI, or other online businesses, either in-house or as outside counsel Experience counseling on or managing incident response and/or broader security program matters Located in the Pacific Time Zone Benefits Competitive medical, dental and vision coverage Retirement savings through a defined contribution pension or savings plan Flexible PTO/Paid Time Off, paid holidays, Volunteer Time Off, and more, allowing you time to unplug, unwind, and refresh Income Protection Plans: Life and disability insurance Business Travel Protection: Travel medical and accident insurance Perks Allowance to be used on what matters most to you, whether that’s wellness, learning and development, food and groceries, and much more Parental benefits including: Parental Leave, Fertility Benefits, Adoptions and Surrogacy support, and Lactation support Mental health and wellness benefits Company Overview Dropbox is a smart workspace company that provides secure file sharing, collaboration, and storage solutions.
