Job Summary and Key Responsibilities As a Math Tutor at Weber State University, your primary responsibility will be to assist students in various drop-in math tutoring centers on campus. Your role will involve: Providing individualized and group tutoring to students in mathematics, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Assisting students in understanding mathematical concepts, solving problems, and completing assignments. Utilizing your knowledge of mathematics to develop effective teaching strategies and materials. Collaborating with other tutors and faculty members to share best practices and stay updated on curriculum developments. Maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor, ensuring a positive experience for students. Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance your tutoring skills and knowledge. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications Completion of Math 1050 with a grade of B+ or better, or equivalent coursework. Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and the ability to explain them clearly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work in a flexible environment, including occasional standing and moving around the tutoring centers. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics. Familiarity with diverse learning styles and strategies for supporting students with varying needs. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to different mathematical problems and scenarios.
