Jobs for Youth - Summer Intern I/II (Jobs for Youth Team)
The County of San Mateo Jobs for Youth Summer Internship places Jobs for Youth Members who are between 18-21 in County Departments for 8-10 weeks. The internship program provides young adults valuable work experience, the opportunity to develop employment skills, and incredible opportunities to network! Internships start in June or July. Jobs for Youth is seeking a Summer Intern I/II to support the Jobs for Youth program in the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Department is located in Redwood City. Applicants must be 18 years old before June 1, 2025. Applicants must be available to work up to 40 hours a week Monday through Friday; positions vary between 20- 40 hours a week. NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment. The JFY Summer Intern I/II may provide: • Assistance with office and administrative support. • Assistance with special projects. • Assistance with researching or data entry. • Assistance with presentations to JFY youth members. • Customer service to youth and community partners. Interns will be expected to work 20-40 hours per week for 8-10 weeks and can start any time in June or July depending on Department needs.In order to apply, the following criteria must be met: • Must be eligible to work in the United States Must be between the ages of 18 and 21 • Must reside or attend school in San Mateo County • Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment • Must attend a Jobs for Youth summer internship orientation session prior to employment • Must have an appropriate workspace for remote work and a stable internet connection Ideal candidates will have the following competencies: • Motivated high school graduate • Excellent written and oral skills • Developing research skills and comfort with conducting research online • Ability to manage time effectively and to meet deadlines • Ability to work effectively with others • Strong attention to detail • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion • Passion for helping underserved communities Ideal candidates have a clear desire to build professional relationships, develop new skills and demonstrate a commitment to serving the community.Interested applicants must submit all of the following: • A complete online application with a completed supplemental questionnaire • Cover letter • Resume IMPORTANT: Applications for this position will only be accepted online.
