With a proven track record of altering 20,000 shelter, rescue, and publicly owned companion animals annually and training over 6,000 veterinary professionals since 2005, ASNA is the go-to training center for veterinary professionals and students seeking expertise in HQHVSN. As a Hybrid Registered Veterinary Technician at ASNA, you will play a pivotal role in the daily medical operations, providing top-notch care to surgical patients, and serving as a vital link between veterinarians, veterinary and kennel assistants, and clients. About the Role The Registered Veterinary Technician is the backbone of ASNA's daily medical operations, responsible for receiving and executing directives from veterinarians, providing medical leadership to the veterinary and kennel assistant teams, and ensuring seamless execution of medical and surgical floor duties. This multifaceted role demands exceptional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Medical Duties, Support, and Training (95%): Provide exceptional animal care throughout the patient's ASNA experience, ensuring a safe and compassionate environment for animals, staff, and clients. Mentor visiting trainees on veterinary technician duties and participate in onboarding and training ASNA registered veterinary technicians and other staff. Perform daily medical duties, including assistance to veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and kennel assistants, medical and surgical duties, and prescription drug handling. Provide medical leadership to veterinary assistants and kennel assistants, overseeing the flow of daily operations and surgical teams. Participate in patient emergency support, medical paperwork, and relationships with public clients and transport partners. Perform supportive medical duties, including equipment operation and maintenance, inventory control, and upkeep of medical, surgical, and kennel areas. Professional Development and Organizational Support (5%): Operate in alignment with ASNA's Core Values, supporting daily operational processes and training program goals. Engage in self-performance management, including annual reviews, regular feedback sessions, and goal setting. Seek individual development opportunities and advocate for smooth and efficient operation of ASNA's surgical, medical, and training programs. Participate in assigned projects and commitments to support ASPCA 2030 goals. Essential Qualifications Degree of Registered Veterinary Technician or equivalent from an AVMA CVTEA or CVMA accredited program. Passing score on the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). Valid NC registered veterinary technician license or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hiring. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Companion animal handling experience and ability to work in physically and mentally challenging conditions. Valid driver's license and safe driving history. Basic computer/technology skills, including email and Microsoft Word. Ability to lift 35 lbs/16 kgs without assistance and over this weight with assistance. Preferred Qualifications 1 year of experience as a registered veterinary technician in a clinical setting. Fear Free Shelter certification within 60 days of hire.
