**Experienced Special Education Assistant – Remote Work Opportunity for Dedicated Professionals**

Our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential and become confident, capable, and compassionate individuals. **Job Summary** As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a preschool/elementary, emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disordered, or self-contained environment. You will work closely with Special Education instructors to plan and implement student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), provide teaching assistance to individual students and/or small groups, and provide requisite student care as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of student learning activities. **Key Responsibilities** * Assist Special Education instructors in planning and implementing student IEPs * Provide teaching assistance to individual students and/or small groups in a variety of educational areas * Monitor student performance and provide information to instructors * Assist with scheduling parent conferences, IEP meetings, and student visits to the school nurse * Provide attendant care for moderately and severely handicapped and/or emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disruptive students * Assist with feeding, dressing, and toileting needs * Maintain attendance records and assist instructors with screening and testing procedures * Provide administrative support, including typing, filing, duplicating, and organizing materials for distribution * Grade student projects/exams using specified criteria * Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher **Essential Qualifications** * Highly Qualified status, as defined by No Child Left Behind (NCLB) * High school diploma or GED * Two years of college (at least 48-semester hour credits) or Associate's (or higher) degree * Pass the Para Pro Assessment and the Paraprofessional Standards Checklist * Previous experience working with students with special needs * Valid Alaska Driver's License * Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 40 pounds * Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods * Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to assist students * Ability to use hand-strength to grasp items such as classroom supplies, feeding instruments, or testing material **Preferred Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field * Experience working in a special education setting * Knowledge of IEP development and implementation * Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information **Skills and Competencies** * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information * Strong organizational and time management skills * Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities * Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** At Workwarp, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
