About the Role As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) on the Infrastructure team at Virta, you'll play a critical role in building the foundation that enables our company to move quickly while maintaining the highest security and compliance standards. You'll be at the forefront of defining and driving our observability and reliability strategy as we continue to grow and innovate. Key Projects and Responsibilities Improving our metrics strategy and developing tooling to track team/service health, enabling data-driven decisions. Enhancing system observability, reliability, and efficiency using a combination of off-the-shelf technology and internal tools developed in Python and Go. Building products to simplify service management and implementation for developers, ensuring standardization and security best practices. Improving incident readiness with better tooling and hygiene practices, such as game days. Collaborating with feature development teams to enhance scalability and reliability through analysis, observability improvements, toil reduction, capacity planning, and load testing. Developing testing infrastructure to improve application quality and speed up development. Your Impact as a Site Reliability Engineer As an SRE at Virta, you'll be responsible for: Evangelizing SRE best practices across engineering to ensure high availability and performance of our cloud infrastructure. Supporting infrastructure and product teams in analyzing and enhancing scalability, reliability, and observability of our containerized systems. Developing and maintaining infrastructure automation to manage and scale standardized infrastructure. Driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team and across the engineering organization. Mentoring peers to become great developers through best practices and technical guidance. Collaborating with our InfoSec team to ensure compliance requirements are implemented in the software development lifecycle. Providing technical support and troubleshooting infrastructure-related issues. 90-Day Plan Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you to: Teach and inspire other engineering team members through knowledge sharing, pair programming, and code reviews. Propose and implement one or more process improvements related to reliability and observability. Must-Haves To succeed in this role, you'll need: 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure automation using Kubernetes, with bonus experience in Anthos on GKE. Proven expertise in developing and managing non-trivial services using GoLang or Python. Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform. Strong knowledge of cloud security and compliance practices, particularly HIPAA and HITRUST. Strong experience implementing observability for containerized applications. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Our compensation structure is location-based, and for this role, the compensation range is between $145,885 and $188,409, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
