Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Walgreens. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for applying advanced data science, predictive analytics, and AI techniques to provide insights and recommendations to drive business growth and improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, analysts, software developers, and business leaders, to develop and implement data-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities Construct and deploy complex models and algorithms using specialized data in AI, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative techniques. Analyze large datasets to identify business opportunities and develop data-driven solutions. Apply statistical rigor and data science techniques to analyze large datasets, using advanced statistical methods, such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, analysis, and data mining. Program using tech stack Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and others. Perform AI procedures, supervised and unsupervised learning to build predictive models and prescriptive answers for various business use cases. Develop algorithms like decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K means, anomaly detection. Interpretable ML, Bayesian inference, and others. Use distributed computing on Azure/Databricks, querying in Snowflake. Use programming tools and strategies GitHub, Continuous Integration and Delivery, agile methodologies. Collaborate with finance, analysts, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide data science support. Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and leadership teams with varying levels of technical expertise, educating them about our systems, as well as sharing insights and recommendations. Essential Capabilities To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential capabilities: Four-year degree and at least 4 years of experience in data science, AI, quantitative or computational capabilities OR High school diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in data science, AI, quantitative or computational capabilities. M.S. in STEM, software engineering, data systems, physics, mathematics, statistics, data science, AI, or related fields. At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to build/enhance AI, predictive, estimating, or prescriptive models. Advanced experience with SQL, Python, PySpark or other languages. Advanced expertise in exploratory data analysis, data modeling and selection, pattern recognition, distribution analysis, result visualization, and insight extraction to help business make informed data-driven decisions. Experience using decision trees, building classifiers. Experience with supervised learning techniques (direct and indirect regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, and others) and unsupervised learning techniques (K means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal component analysis). Experience with Cloud ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines. Experience planning and analyzing A/B tests. Advanced expertise in conveying complex technical ideas and concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and working with ambiguity, focusing on needs, and delivering results. Experience actually delivering technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences. At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 2 years of direct management, indirect management, or cross-functional team leadership. Ability to travel up to/something like 10% of the ideal time for business purposes (within state and out of state). Preferred Capabilities The following preferred capabilities are highly desirable: Ph.D. in STEM, software engineering, data systems, physics, mathematics, statistics, data science, AI, or related fields. Experience working with IoT, and Edge AI is a plus. Experience in Support Learning is a plus. Experience in Healthcare is a plus.
