About the Role: Factory Part-Time Student-Weld Engineering We're seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Factory Part-Time Student-Weld Engineering professional. Based in East Moline, IL, this role will provide support to our manufacturing planning and process control activities for Harvester works production departments and fab assembly lines. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks, leveraging your skills and knowledge to drive success and contribute to the company's mission. Key Responsibilities: Investigate product and process-related issues and recommend changes based on observations and interactions with salary/wage teams Participate in the implementation of resulting activities and provide special engineering project support at the direction of the factory engineering team Provide analysis to support timely and accurate solutions to line-side issues and perform audits or reviews, including inputting and maintaining information in factory databases and systems Assist in investigations and corrective actions, leveraging innovative ideas to address long-standing manufacturing issues Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and optimize manufacturing efficiency Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following essential qualifications: Pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline (or related field) from an accredited U.S. college or university Registered as a full-time student with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above Graduation date of May 2024 or later Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year and 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester Able to commute to the work location in East Moline, IL, a minimum of 2 days/week year-round Coursework covering engineering or science-related topics, with familiarity with information gathering and analysis techniques Ability to write and publicly speak persuasively and concisely about technical or manufacturing information Preferred Qualifications: While not essential, the following qualifications will be highly regarded: Demonstrable mechanical aptitude or familiarity with manufacturing environments Familiarity with drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, and/or geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Experience with software programming languages and/or machine learning (ML) familiarity Experience in one or more related engineering areas: electrical, software programming, troubleshooting, design, quality, and manufacturing Manufacturing factory hands-on experience and SAP experience Knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment or other off-highway machinery Strong organizational and planning skills, with experience solving technical problems Skills and Competencies: To excel in this role, you'll need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At John Deere, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
