About the Job The Online Mathematics Teacher for Grade 7 will be responsible for instructing students in the specific area of mathematics, helping them learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development. The successful candidate will have a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas, including teaching methods, materials, and educational practices applicable to middle school teaching. You will be expected to communicate with parents, create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, and participate in professional learning to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement. Key Responsibilities Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Norwalk Board of Education Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom Demonstrate strong content knowledge Maintain accurate and complete records as required Conduct parent/teacher conferences Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed Keep parents up-to-date on student progress through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed Design and implement assessments that measure progress and use assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: Active CT certification in 229 (Mathematics, Middle School) as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education A Bachelor's Degree in Science or a related field Demonstrated and successful experience in a multi-cultural setting Fluency in Spanish Demonstrated ability to teach middle school classes Experience with team teaching Urban experience Human relations skills to work effectively with students, parents, school administrators, and school staff Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with middle school students in a diverse school setting Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Effective, active listening skills Ability to work effectively with others Organizational and problem-solving skills Proficiency with technology and successful experience with distance learning Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong content knowledge in mathematics Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to new technologies and instructional methods Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a member of our team, you will have access to a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: Professional development workshops and seminars Mentorship programs Opportunities for advancement and promotion Access to cutting-edge technologies and instructional methods Collaborative and supportive work environment Work Environment and Company Culture Our company culture is built on a foundation of respect, inclusivity, and a commitment to excellence.
