Job Overview We are looking for talented and dedicated individuals who are passionate about teaching and tutoring Math and Science to students from junior high to high school grade levels. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one in-home tutoring to students in Math and Science, including STAAR prep and AP subjects Develop personalized tutoring session plans tailored to each student's needs and learning style Travel to student locations within a 30-minute radius of Pearland and Friendswood areas Utilize strong typing, PC, and recording skills to maintain accurate records and communicate with students and parents Collaborate with other tutors and staff members to share best practices and resources Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and technologies Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant field (Math, Science, Education, or related field) Teacher's certification or equivalent experience (preferred) Understanding of local curriculum and TEKS Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching and/or tutoring Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to create personalized tutoring session plans and adapt to different learning styles Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to student locations Access to the internet, a computer, and a smartphone Preferred Qualifications Current or former teaching experience (full-time or part-time) Certification in Special Education or experience working with students with special needs Experience with AP subjects or advanced Math and Science curricula Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Subject matter expertise : A deep understanding of Math and Science concepts and principles, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner Pedagogical skills : The ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans, adapt to different learning styles, and assess student progress Communication skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues Organizational skills : The ability to manage multiple students, schedules, and lesson plans, while maintaining accurate records and communicating with stakeholders Technical skills : Proficiency in using digital tools and technologies to support teaching and learning, including online platforms, software, and hardware Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Tutor Doctor Pearland, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of our tutors.
