Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Data Engineer to join our team at blithequark. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex data systems, including data warehouses and lakes, using the AWS big data stack. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and finance, to develop and implement advanced analytics solutions that drive business growth and improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with experience in designing and developing data systems from the ground up. You will be proficient in a range of technologies, including SQL, Python, and AWS, and have a deep understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines. Excellent business acumen and communication skills are also essential, as you will be working closely with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that meet their needs. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support data warehouse/data lake systems using the AWS big data stack, including Python, Redshift, QuickSight, and other technologies Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various financial, operational, and external systems, and create unified data models for analysis and reporting Create and support real-time data pipelines using AWS technologies, including EMR, Glue, Redshift, and Athena Collaborate with other engineering teams, product/finance leaders, and analysts to implement advanced analytics solutions that leverage our rich datasets for financial modeling, statistical analysis, prediction, and more Stay up-to-date with the latest big data and analytics technologies and trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our data systems Use business intelligence and data visualization tools, such as QuickSight, to develop dashboards and reports that provide insights and value to senior leadership and other stakeholders Enable technical and non-technical users to drive their own analysis and reporting, and provide support for ad-hoc reporting as needed Work closely with colleagues to drive continuous model implementations for monitoring and alerting of risk systems Manage multiple requests simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver results Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver results and drive business outcomes Mentor and coach other engineers, and contribute to the development of the team and the company's technical capabilities Essential Qualifications 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing and developing complex data systems Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines, including SQL and data modeling tools Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field Experience with designing and developing data systems from the ground up, and maintaining and supporting existing systems Experience with managing large and complex datasets, and performance tuning Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python, Ruby, or similar Experience with big data warehouses or data lakes, and data modeling for structured and unstructured data Experience with gathering requirements and designing business metrics for reporting Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience with AWS technologies, including Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions Experience with non-relational databases/data stores, including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field Related experience with programming using Python Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong technical skills, including proficiency in SQL, Python, and AWS technologies Excellent business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities, with a focus on delivering results and driving business outcomes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop insights and recommendations Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
