The Risk Finance group, situated under Corporate Planning (CP&A), plays a pivotal role in planning, forecasting, and evaluating global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. This team also provides critical credit-related decision support to Risk Management, local Finance, and business groups across underwriting, customer management, credit, and collections activities. Job Overview The Director of Data Science position is designed to lead the Global Data Strategy group within Risk Finance at blithequark. The primary responsibility of this group is to build and maintain centralized reporting capabilities, implement process enhancements and automation, and ultimately drive innovative data solutions to provide robust forecasts and analytics for the broader Risk Finance organization. This role is crucial for strategic decision-making, requiring a deep understanding of data science, finance, and risk management. Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic analysis of blithequark credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, ensuring data-driven insights inform key decisions. Own and manage specific data assets/packages within Risk Finance, becoming a power user of the applicable tools. This includes troubleshooting issues, reconciling results, identifying enhancements and automation opportunities, and teaching other users to drive adoption. Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports used by Risk Finance and/or business partners, offering credit-related analytical support to facilitate informed decision-making. Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks within the portfolio that can be leveraged to optimize business and risk decisions. Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, and other relevant departments, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes shared goals and objectives. Provide decision-aid with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio, which can be used to optimize business and risk decisions, driving growth and minimizing risk. Essential Qualifications To excel in this role, candidates must possess advanced experience working with most of the following: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, and TM1. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is also required, with experience in ML modeling being a significant plus. The ideal candidate will have solid financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw meaningful conclusions that empower business partners to make smart, data-based decisions. Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in advanced mathematics or a statistical discipline is required, demonstrating a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and data science. Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills, is essential for managing multiple tasks, working within tight timelines, and driving successful outcomes. A results-driven and proactive approach, with a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills, is critical for building and maintaining relationships and collaborating effectively with team members to achieve goals.
