Job Overview In this exciting role, you will be responsible for transporting freight across the dock area, handling freight using various equipment, and performing data entry tasks to ensure seamless operations. Key Responsibilities Transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading, using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Verify documentation to ensure it matches the freight description, using current electronic or manual systems, and update records as necessary. Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope, to prevent damage during transit. Recoup and repair damaged freight when necessary, and complete required documentation and reports. Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed, providing excellent customer service and support. Perform hostling duties, if required, and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. Work independently and as a team member to achieve operational goals and objectives, and perform other duties as required. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations is preferred, but not essential. Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. Basic written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers and colleagues effectively. Physical ability to lift and carry hand freight of varying weights, lift dock plates, and open trailer doors, as well as bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout the shift. Ability to work independently and as a team member, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Preferred Qualifications Previous dock/warehouse experience, with knowledge of logistics and transportation operations. Experience with data entry and record-keeping, with attention to detail and accuracy. Familiarity with forklift operations, with a valid forklift certification, if applicable.
