The Role: Customer Service Representative I - Summer Employment We're seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Representative I for a summer employment opportunity. As a key member of our customer service team, you'll play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our customers, primarily through outbound and inbound call campaigns related to the Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Key Responsibilities Participate in high-volume outbound and inbound call campaigns based on assigned call lists, ensuring consistent high-quality service to customers. Adhere to approved call scripts and compliance guidelines while responding to customer questions and concerns. Utilize software, scripts, and tools to effectively manage customer interactions and document encounters in clear and concise online logs. Employ empathic support to customers, identifying their issues and directing callers to the appropriate party if necessary. Maintain a professional phone voice and etiquette, communicating in a positive and courteous manner. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A high school diploma or equivalent. Four to six months of customer service experience in a call center environment, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and scripts. Proficient computer skills, including good typing skills and the ability to effectively utilize software and tools. Strong time management and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple interactions simultaneously. Knowledge of the FAFSA and college financial aid and admissions processes is preferred, but not required. Active listening skills, with the ability to effectively understand and respond to customer concerns. Professional phone voice and etiquette, with a positive and courteous demeanor. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify customer issues and direct callers to the appropriate party. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high volume of calls and multiple priorities.
