Autoimmune T1D Medical Science Liaison -Birmingham and Jacksonville
About the position Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) engage with healthcare professionals, institutions and through scientific exchange to identify and address their medical educational needs in alignment with our Sanofi medical strategy. MSLs use their scientific expertise to communicate and form partnerships to deliver the medical strategy, capture actionable insights and ultimately improve patient pathways and outcomes. MSL will appropriately partner with their regional matrix team to support our one Sanofi approach. MSL Role: To build and develop enduring value-based trusted partnerships with Type 1 Diabetes stakeholders, through scientific engagement and exchange, with healthcare professionals and institutions in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Leads efforts to educate diabetologists and other key supportive medical audiences about T1D. To engage proactively and reactively with healthcare professionals, payers and institutions. To execute the Country Medical Plan. To generate actionable and valuable insights and propose solutions. To create cross functional partnerships and collaborate with internal stakeholders. Comply with the local and corporate compliance frameworks for external and internal interactions and complete all global/local mandatory trainings. Support T1D Sanofi pipeline in alignment with R&D and CSU. Priority focus on medical education, insight gathering, and clinical support aligned to the following initiatives: Identify and conduct scientific exchange with PCP/PED to increase T1D awareness and responsiveness on the importance of T1D antibody screening. Provide education and appropriate support for enhanced understanding of treatment to delay T1D. Where permitted, engage patients through medical and aligned advocacy channels. Responsibilities • Build and develop enduring needs-based peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals, institutions and payers. • Understand perspectives and needs of stakeholders to adapt and be relevant and valued. • Identify areas of mutual collaboration and develop strategic medical action plans aligned to the Country Medical Plan. • Communicate the benefits, risks, appropriate use and clinical value of products and solutions. • Operate independently and develop healthcare networks to navigate local health care environments. • Generate and share actionable and valuable insights through appropriate tools. • Provide scientific and technical support for material development for internal and external stakeholders. • Support development and execution of clinical trials. • Complete all MSL SOP trainings and corporate compliance trainings. Requirements • Medical, pharmacy or post graduate level science degree preferred. • Previous pharmaceutical industry experience with relevant Type 1 Diabetes expertise preferred. • Clear understanding of medical practice, clinical decision making and healthcare systems related to patient care in Type 1 Diabetes. • Advanced understanding of clinical/medical science in T1D or immunology is required. • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting in T1D experience preferred. • Fluency in spoken and written business English. • In-depth knowledge of the disease state, therapeutic area, and relevant products in the portfolio. • Strong communication and presentation skills to simplify complex topics. • Good understanding of clinical development and clinical research. • Good knowledge of pharmacovigilance and local regulatory processes.
