The University of Texas at Austin is internationally recognized for its academic programs and research. They are seeking an Accountant I to provide accounting and Centralized Receivables processing and reconciliation support for the university within the Student Accounts Receivable department. Responsibilities Review and reconcile daily journal vouchers for university transactions to ensure proper accounting to Centralized Receivables records (for web vouchers, credit card vouchers, treasury vouchers, etc.). Research any discrepancies in daily vouchers and make appropriate corrections promptly Handle daily G5 draw for Direct Loans Process credit card chargebacks, manual credit card refund requests, and enrollment deposit forfeitures Complete reconciliation of Centralized Receivables to Accounting balances monthly. Promptly research and correct any discrepancies. Produce accounting reports from IQ Author/Cognos and receivables reports from DEFINE as necessary Handle the monthly 063 job to apply transactions to departmental accounts in relation to fee billing changes Complete the 042 process to charge departmental accounts for initial charges on a student’s account each semester Provide customer support for departments, students, and other customers of the university in relation to Centralized Receivables Act as backup support for Returned Checks desk and act as backup support for Scholarship Services desk Skills Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field Experience in financial reporting and analysis Experience in report writing Advanced Excel skills Proficient with MS Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, flexibility and attention to detail Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, student services office Must be authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing, full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship Demonstrated ability to perform multiple duties and meet deadlines Experience working in a university environment Experience working with internal and external customers Experience working with databases One to three years' experience in governmental accounting Professional demeanor Benefits Competitive health benefits (employee premiums covered at 100%, family premiums at 50%) Voluntary Vision, Dental, Life, and Disability insurance options Generous paid vacation, sick time, and holidays Teachers Retirement System of Texas: a defined benefit retirement plan Additional Voluntary Retirement Programs: Tax Sheltered Annuity 403(b) and a Deferred Compensation program 457(b) Flexible spending account options for medical and childcare expenses Robust free training access through LinkedIn Learning plus professional conference opportunities Tuition assistance Expansive employee discount program including athletic tickets Free access to UT Austin's libraries and museums with staff ID card Free rides on all UT Shuttle and Austin CapMetro buses with staff ID card Company Overview The University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest public universities in the United States.
