Job Summary We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Travel Designer & Expedition Leader to join our team. As a dual role, this position combines the planning, organization, and execution of ultra-luxury travel experiences. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the luxury travel market, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to manage complex logistics. Key Responsibilities Trip Designer: Design and Plan: Create bespoke, ultra-luxury travel experiences that exceed our members' expectations. Logistics Management: Oversee all aspects of trip planning, including itineraries, contingencies, safety procedures, permits, and costing. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with local officials, private institutions, and notable personalities to create exclusive experiences. Relationship Building: Establish and manage relationships with destination management companies (DMCs) and other stakeholders. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and relationship management throughout each trip. Travel Logistics: Supervise all travel logistics, including aviation, accommodation, dining, and event planning. Aviation Management: Liaise with aircraft operators to request proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure effective ground handling. Hotel Bookings: Handle all aspects of hotel bookings, including reservations, invoicing, and upgrades. Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety protocols. Budget Management: Manage trip budgets, ensuring quality experiences while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Expedition Leader: Itinerary Execution: Execute the trip's itinerary and programming in line with the pre-planned run-of-show. Member Experience: Guarantee overall member experience quality and address any concerns promptly. Team Management: Lead and manage the expedition team. DMC Coordination: Coordinate with DMCs as needed. Emergency Response: Collaborate with trip physicians to handle any emergencies or evacuations, prioritizing member safety and well-being. Budget Management: Manage trip budgets, ensuring adherence while managing quality expectations. Travel Requirements: Travel extensively (up to 2-3 weeks at a time) and lead groups on expeditions. Qualifications and Requirements Key Requirements: Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in operations, hospitality, tourism, or a related field. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the luxury travel industry, particularly in planning and leading expeditions. Problem-Solving: Proven problem-solving skills, an ability to work under pressure, and adaptability to unexpected situations. Luxury Travel Market: An excellent understanding of the luxury travel market and the ability to meet its specific customer service and detailed demands. Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Discretion: A high level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information. Flexibility: Ability to flex to work schedule in an international environment. Desirable Capabilities: Team Management: Ability to recruit and manage expedition team members. Language Skills: Proficiency in multiple languages. International Customs: Familiarity with international customs and protocols. Vendor Relationships: Established relationships with vendors and service providers in the luxury travel industry. Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage budgets. Crisis Management: Crisis management and emergency response training. Medical Training: Certification in First Aid/CPR or related medical training.
