Structural Engineer in Training

KGS Group is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients throughout North America. They are seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, preparing and reviewing civil/structural engineering designs and related documents, while ensuring projects are completed within schedules and budgets. Responsibilities Perform site inspections and condition assessments Assess structures and investigate alternative methods for carrying out remedial projects Carry out structural design and analysis Carry out concept and preliminary design of structures and associated civil infrastructure for proposed projects Assist ongoing construction projects with construction support and assist in preparing, reviewing and coordination submittals to meet project timelines Prepare deliverables for projects including reports, calculations, drawings and/or specifications Analyze and interpret engineering reports, professional journals, technical procedures, code/standards and governmental regulations Assist in the preparation, development, and write-up of proposals Coordinate with external consultants, vendors as required to ensure smooth project delivery Help to maintain strong relationships with clients Skills Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering specializing in structural design from a recognized university Registered (or eligible to become registered) with EGBC 0-3 years of relevant experience required, preferably in an engineering consulting environment Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential Availability to periodically travel to project sites on an as required basis for site visits, typically for data collection, review of construction or attendance at coordination or design review meetings Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks Existing construction experience including field inspection would be considered an asset Experience in the water resource and hydroelectric field with heavy civil projects, including water retaining structures and flood control structures, and knowledge of the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Dam Safety Guidelines is an asset Working knowledge of AutoCAD, other drafting tools and Mathcad would be an asset Strong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Highly proactive with exceptional problem solving/analytical skills Benefits Professional development opportunities Competitive pay and benefits package Company Overview KGS Group is an engineering consulting firm that offers project management, geotechnical, geomatics and consulting services.
