We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher - Visual Impairments to join our team at the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) SELPA department. About the Role As a Special Education Teacher - Visual Impairments, you will provide instruction to students with a range of visual impairments within the SELPA in general education and/or special education settings (pull-out or push-in), including home or other natural environments per IFSPs/IEPs. You will work with children ages 3 to 21, participating in IEP planning meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality services. Key Responsibilities Provide instruction to students with visual impairments in general education and/or special education settings Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students Conduct assessments, interpret ophthalmological evaluations, and write intervention plans Provide family and staff consultation to support students with visual impairments Participate in IEP planning meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Stay up-to-date with best practices in teaching students with visual impairments Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess: A valid Education Specialist credential with the authorization in Visual Impairment or equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing A valid English Learner authorization/CLAD certificate or equivalency A valid CA driver's license CPR and First Aid certification (highly desirable) Preferred Qualifications We prefer candidates with: A bachelor's degree in visual impairment or graduate studies in visual impairment or a related field Experience working with students from birth through twenty-one (21) Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you must possess: Strong knowledge of teaching methods and strategies for students with visual impairments Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work with students, families, and staff in a diverse and inclusive environment Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At SDCOE, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our employees. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $54,653 - $106,466 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you may be eligible for a stipend of $4,500 after three years of consecutive full-time service. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
