Key Responsibilities Design and implement instruction for students with identified educational disabilities, using data-driven decision-making to inform teaching practices. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, promoting student engagement and motivation. Collaborate with administrators, colleagues, and parents to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Assess student progress, providing regular progress reports and adapting instruction to meet individual needs. Maintain accurate and complete records, adhering to District policies and regulations. Supervise and support teacher aides and volunteers, promoting a positive and productive learning environment. Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, attending staff meetings and serving on staff committees as needed. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. A Missouri teacher certificate in special education. Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with various stakeholders. A professional and friendly demeanor, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents. The ability to adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities. Knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques. Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and student learning. Experience with data-driven decision-making and progress monitoring. Skills and Competencies To excel as a Special Education Learning Specialist, you will need: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform instruction. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience. A commitment to ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in special education. Proficiency in using district software and technology, including smart boards and projectors.
