Key Responsibilities Assist in the care and tutoring of physically and mentally disabled students, providing personalized support and guidance. Develop and implement individualized educational plans, working closely with teachers and other support staff. Demonstrate an understanding of developmental disabilities and adapt to the unique needs of each student. Utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI, physical restraint) techniques to ensure student safety and well-being. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members, using verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, adhering to district policies and procedures. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. Qualifications and Requirements To be eligible for this role, you must meet one of the following qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, and completion or ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire. Associate's degree or higher. Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or equivalent. Additionally, you must: Possess an understanding of developmental disabilities. Demonstrate proper lifting skills, able to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly. Show empathy for special needs of disabled children and ability to communicate effectively. Be able to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure. Possess the physical ability to move around a classroom or playground environment freely and independently. Be able to remain outside for 30 minutes at 20 degrees below zero.
