Senior/Principal AWS Architect to Review Distributed, Zero-Data-Loss Architecture
We are seeking a senior-level AWS architect to confidentially review and stress-test an early-stage architecture and design document for a highly distributed, data-critical system, prior to implementation. The system is expected to meet enterprise standards for security, privacy, reliability, and zero data loss. This engagement is strictly focused on architecture validation and risk assessment, not development. ⸻ Scope of Review You will evaluate the proposed design with respect to: • Distributed processing and orchestration using AWS-native services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, Step Functions) • Eventing and messaging patterns (e.g., SQS, SNS, EventBridge), including idempotency, retries, backpressure, and dead-letter handling • Data durability and consistency, including checkpointing, replayability, and safe re-runs using services such as DynamoDB, RDS, and S3 • Deterministic and reproducible processing, including versioning of schemas, mappings, and transformations • End-to-end observability and verification, leveraging CloudWatch, structured logging, metrics, tracing, and explicit success criteria (counts, hashes, or checksums) • Failure isolation and blast-radius control, including tenant-level isolation, rate-limit containment, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation • Control-plane vs data-plane separation, including job state management, orchestration, and operational controls (pause, resume, cancel, recover) • AWS security posture, including IAM least-privilege design, KMS, Secrets Manager, encryption at rest and in transit, secure network boundaries, and tenant isolation • Operational safety and auditability, including configuration guardrails, action logging, and recovery readiness You will identify architectural risks, gaps, and tradeoffs, and provide clear, AWS-specific recommendations. ⸻ Requirements • Senior or principal-level AWS architect (7+ years experience) • Strong background in distributed, fault-tolerant systems • Proven experience with data-critical or security-sensitive platforms • Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS core services, security, and reliability patterns • Ability to produce clear, actionable written architectural feedback AWS Solutions Architect (Professional) certification is a plus. ⸻ Engagement Details • Short-term advisory engagement (1–2 weeks) • Architecture review and written recommendations only • Expert-level rates accepted ⸻ Confidentiality Access to architecture materials will require signing a mutual NDA prior to engagement.
