About the Role: Senior Lead Database Administration We're on the hunt for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead Database Administration expert to join our dynamic team at Kyndryl. As a Senior Lead Database Administration, you'll be the mastermind behind the management and administration of our database infrastructure, ensuring the long-term success of our business operations. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation of our database systems, as well as configuring, installing, and maintaining database management systems to ensure peak performance. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration: Configure databases in accordance with logical data models, create database users with required privileges, and monitor database and listener availability. Performance Optimization: Execute SQL query tuning to improve performance, execute explain plans as requested by application teams, and provide application upgrade support for minor releases. Security and Compliance: Implement the highest standards of security to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access, manage user access, and develop strong backup and recovery plans to ensure system protection in the event of a failure. Strategic Partnership: Work closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with our organizational goals, propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability, and support end-users and application developers in solving complex problems related to our database systems. Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet our business needs. Incident Management: Manage database incidents using the Air Canada Incident Management process, provide response time SLA attainment analysis for all reported incidents, and check top sessions and SQLs using more CPU and high IO. Essential Qualifications: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Database Administration. Strong technical expertise in database administration, including configuring databases, creating database users, and monitoring database availability. Experience with SQL query tuning, performance optimization, and database security. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with various teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with creating and maintaining standard operating procedures and documentation. Knowledge of data archival and purging processes, change management processes, and root cause analysis. Experience working with physical DBAs on software upgrades and fixes. Strong understanding of logical database standards and policies. Ability to monitor application sessions for transaction volumes, response times, and concurrency levels.
