Find out more about Dollar General at www.dollargeneral.com/about-us.html. Job Specifics: Summary of the Role: As a Sales Associate, your role is to be the primary contact point for our customers. You are responsible for ensuring well-stocked merchandise, assisting customers with their purchases, and other duties as required. These are integral to maximize profitability, maintain customer satisfaction, and safeguard company assets. Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: - Efficiently unload trucks. - Adhere to company's work processes to receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; ensuring merchandise is either stored in the stock room or moved directly to the sales floor. - Creatively build merchandise displays. - Regularly restock and face merchandise on shelves. - Assist customers in locating merchandise. - Execute tasks such as bailing cardboard, taking out trash, dusting and mopping store floors, along with maintaining cleanliness in the restroom and stockroom. - Comply with all company policies and procedures. - Greet customers and engage positively. - Operate the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and total purchases; bag merchandise. - Collect payment from the customer and provide change if required. - Assist with merchandise ordering using handheld scanners, if necessary. - Maintain cleanliness at the front end of the store and help set up sidewalk displays, when required. Prerequisites: Knowledge Base and Skills: - Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills. - Awareness of safety policies and practices. - Ability to correctly interpret and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance. - Familiarity with basic cash handling procedures. - Basic mathematical proficiency. - Ability to perform IBM cash register functions. Work Exposure and/or Education: - Preferably a High School diploma or equivalent. Working Conditions: - Frequent walking and standing. - Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run the checkout station, restock merchandise, and unload trucks; may also require the ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise. - Regularly handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers. - Routine and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds. - Occasionally required to climb (using step ladder) up to six feet. - Fast-paced environment with a moderate noise level. - Occasional outdoor weather exposure.
