Travel will be required to audit sites within Spokane and the Eastern Washington region with flexibility in scheduling. Some overnight travel is required. Your opportunity at a glance The WSLCB Finance Division is announcing an exciting opportunity for a Revenue Auditor 2 in Spokane, WA region. This position reports directly to the Audit Supervisor in the WSLCB's Finance Division. The position serves and complements the WSLCB's mission and goals through independent analysis of the production, purchase, and sale of liquor and cannabis products, by educating licensees to improve compliance, and by providing assistance to other agency divisions and regulatory agencies. WSLCB provides a modern work environment and excellent benefits including: • Training and career development programs • Tuition reimbursement • Flexible work schedules • Telecommuting opportunities • Generous wellness program • Onsite exercise facility • Active and engaging diversity program • Infant at Work program • Organization's commitment to your personal health and well-being. • Work/life balance • Free parking • A comprehensive benefits package Some of the duties you will perform are: • Complete evaluation of fiscal activities, financial records, procedures, processes and policy to determine if licensees are in compliance with applicable tax/fee laws and has correctly reported their tax liability. • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of established accounting procedures, systems and internal controls; check for compliance with state statues, regulations, and institutional policies, evaluate efficiency of operations, audit trails, and accuracy of reports and records. • Recognize signs of fraud and seek guidance from a higher level auditor or supervisor for future course of action. • Independently conduct audits of wineries, breweries, distributors, spirits retailers, distilleries, craft distillers and cannabis retailers to determine the extent of tax and fee liability; provide continuous education and direction in preparation, accuracy and timeliness of required reporting; verify beer, wine, spirit and cannabis purchases, sales, and other operational activities; complete an analysis of the licensees internal control and record keeping systems; determine amount of tax, penalty and assessment due for each audit. • Understand and apply the RCW and WAC associated with Marijuana, Spirits, and Beer & Wine audits. Discuss findings and issues with licensee to inform them of the required activities as referenced in applicable RCW & WAC. • Provide audit findings and recommendations for corrective actions to licensees, accountants, attorneys, agency management, and other governmental agencies. • Perform investigative audits of liquor manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and retailers to determine extent of compliance with liquor laws and regulations. • Travel to and from locations of auditees and work sites; work at locations while conducting audits. • Train other auditors in techniques of field auditing and participates as a team member on large and complex audits. • Collect data from the systems of records used for Marijuana, Spirits, and Beer & Wine. Required Qualifications: Experience for required qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment and educational experience. See below for how you may qualify. Option 1: A Bachelor’s degree or above which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting AND Two (2) years of relevant professional experience in accounting or auditing. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel. Option 2: An Associate’s degree which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting AND Four (4) years of relevant professional experience in accounting or auditing. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel. Option 3: Six (6) years of relevant professional experience in accounting or auditing, along with 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of coursework in accounting. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel.
