QualCode, Inc. is seeking an experienced Radiology Oncology Coder to support one of the nation’s premier cancer treatment and research centers. This position requires expertise in diagnostic and interventional radiology within an oncology setting — ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and completeness of all CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM assignments for imaging and radiation procedures. As part of QualCode’s elite coding team, you’ll transform complex documentation into precise, revenue-compliant code assignments that drive financial integrity and support high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities · Assign accurate CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for oncology-related diagnostic and interventional radiology encounters. · Identify and code both technical and professional components of imaging studies. · Apply appropriate modifiers (e.g., -26, TC, -59, -52, -76, JW/JZ) to ensure clean claims and compliance. · Validate documentation for medical necessity, contrast use, laterality, and procedural details. · Collaborate with clients to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies. · Review and address NCCI edits, MUEs, and payer-specific radiology coverage policies. · Maintain compliance with CMS, ACR, AHIMA/AAPC, and OIG guidelines. Required Qualifications · Certification: CPC®, COC®, or CCS-P (required). · Experience: Minimum 2+ years of recent coding experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology, preferably within an oncology or hospital-based environment. · Knowledge of: o CPT/HCPCS coding for diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology. o Application of modifiers for professional/technical components. o Understanding of contrast studies, radiation therapy planning, brachytherapy, and interventional procedures. o Medical terminology, anatomy, and oncology-specific coding guidelines. · Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of PHI. Preferred Qualifications · Experience in cancer center or teaching facility settings. · Additional exposure to advanced oncology procedures and research-based coding environments.
