Job Summary: We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma. Our nurses are focused on providing exceptional patient care to children while helping families face unique challenges. The Registered Nurse focuses on developing skills to guide him/her over a continuum of basic patient care through more complex assignments, assessing the needs of acute and chronically ill children using effective communication with patients/families and team members. The Staff Registered Nurse uses the nursing process in a family-centered interdisciplinary context to coordinate care and achieve team goals. Essential Registered Nurse Functions Serves as the clinical team liaison for families, coordinating with internal and external providers and agencies involved in patient care. Communicates essential clinical and logistical information to patients, families, and care team members. Acts as a patient and family advocate, ensuring needs and concerns are addressed. Educates patients and families on provider treatment plans based on nursing assessments. Conducts telephone triage and follow-up, providing guidance within scope or in collaboration with providers. Manages documentation and paperwork such as care plans, equipment forms, school forms, interventions and medication authorizations. Leads clinical coordination activities, including patient intake evaluation, clinic huddles, appointment scheduling, and transition planning Provides in-clinic support including performing assessments, transcribing provider orders, assisting with procedures, assists with treatment plan execution, and reviewing care summaries with families. What We Need From You Education: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing. BSN required. Related Work Experience: Three years’ experience in pediatric nursing required; experience in technology-dependent clinical specialty desirable. Licensure/Certification: Current Illinois Professional Nursing Licensure. Certification in Pediatric Nursing, Case Management, or specialty preferred. CPR Required (Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted) Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent people skills, demonstrated knowledge and expertise in pediatrics and any specialty areas, as well as family education; Active membership in appropriate professional organizations; Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
