Siemens is a global leader in power protection and automation, seeking qualified candidates for their Power Protection and Automation Engineering Development Program. This one-year development program offers structured learning and hands-on experience in electrical substations, focusing on protection and automation systems. Responsibilities Each six-month rotation begins with two months of structured classroom training at the Wendell, NC office, guided by Siemens Power Academy trainers, followed by four months of hands-on experience through travel across the U.S. where participants shadow mentors on real-world substation projects During each rotation, participants will specialize in a specific track: Protection: Focus on safeguarding electrical substations by designing and implementing protection systems using protective relays that protect power equipment such as transformers, motors, and substations overall Automation: Focus on controlling and communicating with RTUs, HMIs, relays, and other devices inside switchgears within substations, to ensure smooth operation and reliable data exchange At the close of the program, participants will choose one of the specialized tracks as a focus and join the Solutions Engineering team, where they will continue learning from mentors and begin mentoring new EDP cohorts Learn through comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and mentorship Design and implement innovative power protection and automation solutions Test, commission and troubleshoot projects with the support of your mentor Skills Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
