Part-Time Virtual ELA & Math Teachers (Grades 3–8) – NYC
About A+ Virtual Learning A+ Virtual Learning partners with New York City schools to provide high-quality virtual instruction for students in Grades 3–8. We specialize in small-group instruction that supports diverse learners, including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, and students who need targeted intervention and enrichment. We are seeking New York State certified teachers with New York City teaching experience or small-group instruction experience with NYC Public Schools. Position Overview We are hiring experienced ELA and Math educators (Grades 3–8) to provide virtual instruction to NYC students in small-group settings. Ideal candidates are deeply familiar with NYC public school expectations, curriculum, and student needs, and are able to create engaging, rigorous lessons in an online environment. Key Qualifications • Required: • New York State teaching certification in ELA and/or Math (Grades 3–8 or closely aligned certification). • Minimum 10 years teaching experience. • Strongly Preferred: • New York City public school teaching experience, or • Significant experience providing small-group instruction (intervention, AIS, SETSS, after-school, or push-in/pull-out) to NYC Public School students in Grades 3–8. • Strong content knowledge of: • NYS Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS) in ELA and Math. • Common NYC core curricula and programs (e.g., Into Reading, Wit & Wisdom, My Perspectives, Envision, Illustrative Math, i-Ready, etc.). • Demonstrated success supporting students with IEPs, multilingual learners, and other special populations. • Ability to engage students virtually using multiple modalities (discussion, chat, breakout rooms, interactive tools, etc.). • Organized, reliable self-starter who can work independently and meet deadlines consistently. Key Responsibilities • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality virtual instruction to small groups of NYC students in Grades 3–8 (ELA and/or Math). • Use data from schools and ongoing formative assessments to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners. • Effectively manage student behavior in a virtual setting and maintain a positive, supportive classroom climate. • Collaborate with A+ Virtual Learning leadership and school partners as needed to align instruction with school expectations. • Complete all required record-keeping and reporting tasks in a timely manner (attendance, progress notes, grading, etc.). Schedule • Monday to Friday • Must be available a minimum of three days per week • Core hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (school-day schedule; exact hours may vary by assignment) • Some flexibility in scheduling based on school needs and teacher availability. Compensation & Employment Type • Compensation: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour (based on experience, certification, and assignment). • Employment Type: 1099 independent contractor position.
