Remote Full-time
Hi, Need Data Center Infrastructure Migration and Support-100% Remote Location: Remote Contract: 12+Months High-level Scope of Tasks & Activities 1. Coordinate Discovery & Assessment Identify target racks and validate available space, power, and cooling requirements. Inventory all servers, switches, routers, and associated network devices in the current racks. Determine the usage status of each device (active, inactive, unknown). Document unused or retired servers/devices for potential decommissioning. Validate dependencies, cabling, and upstream/downstream connections for all active systems. 2. Coordination & Planning Engage with business, application owners, and system owners to confirm device usage and operational requirements. Coordinate downtime windows for active servers and applications. Participate in Change Management processes, including: Creating and submitting change requests. Providing risk assessments and back-out plans. Attending CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings as needed. Open required service tickets (for physical relocations and network changes. Coordinate with all the stakeholders to develop a move plan per device/rack, including: Shutdown sequence Physical move logistics Networking and routing updates Post-move validation steps Confirm on-site support availability at origin and destination racks. 3. Coordinate Pre-Move Preparation Coordinate with the on-site DC team Validate labeling of servers, cables, ports, and network devices. Perform pre-move configuration backups for servers and network gear. Identify and prepare patch panels, power sources, and cables at the destination rack. Network engineer prepares updated network configuration, VLAN changes, trunk/access port configurations, routing updates, and firewall changes (if needed). Data center team ensures destination rack is physically ready (rails installed, cabling channels available, PDUs accessible). 4. Coordinate: Shutdown & Physical Relocation Coordinate with application/business owners to initiate approved downtime. Network engineer disables interfaces on old switch ports as required. Coordinate with the on-site DC team Gracefully shut down servers according to SOP. Physically disconnect devices (power and network) and secure for transportation within the data center. Install servers and network devices in designated rack positions. Connect power, network cables, and any other required connections using proper cable management. 5. Coordinate : Network & System Bring-Up Network Engineer configures new switch ports, VLAN assignments, routing updates, and firewall rules as required. Validate link status and connectivity for all network uplinks and interfaces. Verify BIOS/ILO/management IP accessibility. Coordinate with application and system owners to start services and applications. Execute functional tests, connectivity tests, and performance validation. 6. Coordinate Post-Move Validation & Handover Confirm application availability and successful end-to-end testing with owners. Perform network and system health checks (logs, routing tables, interface status). Update inventory, rack diagrams, and network topology documentation. Close all related change tickets and service tickets. Provide a formal handover report summarizing: Move activities Any issues encountered Final rack locations Updated documentation Post-move validation results 7. Coordinate Decommissioning Activities (if applicable) For devices marked unused or no longer needed: Validate decommissioning approval with stakeholders. Perform secure shutdown and wipe procedures if required. Remove hardware from the rack and coordinate with disposal/asset management teams. Update asset lifecycle records and CMDB entries. 8. Working with Project Management & Reporting Maintain communication with the larger migration team and other project stakeholders. Participate in weekly/bi-weekly migration planning meetings. Maintain a detailed tracker of devices, migration status, risks, and dependencies. Provide progress updates, issues, and escalation points to project leadership Thanks & Regards, Joe Recruitment Manager Northite Inc Hampton, New Jersey 08827 Web-Link: / - Equal Opportunity Employer - Connecting Talent with Right Opportunities.
