Lab Analyst I, II or III

Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is seeking Lab Analysts at various levels to perform routine analytical laboratory tests in accordance with EPA methodology and standard operating procedures. The role involves preparing and analyzing environmental samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring quality control in data reporting. Responsibilities Performs basic sample control duties: picks up field samples, aliquots and preserves samples for analysis and storage, utilizes LIMS, prepares bottles kits, cleans glassware and disposes of samples Follows laboratory SOPs and approved EPA methods. Performs a range of basic quantitative chemical and biological analyses. Organizes, collates, compiles and classifies information. Reviews own data for reporting against defined quality control parameters and verifies the accuracy of calculations in reports, computers and spreadsheets Prepares samples using a variety of laboratory equipment including analytical balances, micropipettes, ovens, muffle furnaces, incubators and hot blocks. Analyzes samples using basic laboratory instruments including spectrophotometers, meters and titrators Cleans, prepares and maintains glassware, laboratory equipment and work area. Sets up laboratory supplies, equipment and instruments for analyses, ensuring sterilization and proper operating order. Arranges various types of media for cultivation of bacteria. Safely prepares and disposes of laboratory solutions following laboratory guidelines Inspects equipment and basic instrumentation quality control criteria to verify reliability and accuracy of data. Identifies faults in equipment, reports malfunctions and anomalies and assists in diagnosing problems in processes. Ensures that all supplies, chemicals and materials are acceptable and available for analytical work Collects information by observing samples during testing processes. Employs proper verification procedures. Maintains quality control records and control charts on analyses. Calculates and records test results and checks to see if they are within normal limits. Validates sample results against method-specific quality control and checks data and calculations for accuracy Checks own information for quality, accuracy and completeness on reports, computer printouts and in calculations. Keeps detailed records of work undertaken and writes reports. Accurately completes forms, logs and other required documentation Provides verbal and written information to team members, supervisors and managers. Assists in the preparation and reporting of analytical data Required to work a rotational schedule including off-shift, holidays and weekend hours as the department is staffed a minimum of 50 hours per week.
