IP / litigation Paralegal (1099 contractor)
Partner at Practus LLP (a remote law firm) seeks a 1099 paralegal with demonstrated ability in the following areas: • Participating in all phases of federal district court litigation (bonus points if you're familiar with Washington federal and state courts) • Drafting discovery requests and responses • Document review • Redacting and Bates Stamping in Adobe • Filing documents electronically in federal courts (at least WDWA) • Arranging and scheduling depositions, process servers, and other vendors • Docketing deadlines • High confidence in Adobe and Clio practice management software products • Editing documents for grammar and typographical errors • Organizing files as needed • (ideally) experience preparing forms for patent applications • (ideally) Occasional legal research on Lexis Nexis • (ideally) Drafting/editing basic contracts including licenses, NDAs, and non-competes • (ideally) Handle client intakes and follow-up to get clients signed up. • (ideally) Preparing and filing federal trademark applications • (ideally) Preparing and filing documents in the TTAB • (ideally) US Copyright Applications The workload will vary week to week, and there is no guarantee of a set number of hours—at least not yet. Sorry, this position is not open to law students or recent law school graduates. I am very big on transparent communication and having a sense of humor at work. Let's be professional, but we do not need to be so dang serious all the time. This is a total work-from-home, remote position. I need someone aggressive who is not afraid to pester attorneys about approaching deadlines and who has an aptitude for learning new technologies.
