We're now seeking an experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Montclair, NJ, and make a positive impact on the lives of students. About the Role As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. We'll provide you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom, including a dedicated consultant, online training, and competitive pay. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality instruction to students in a variety of educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools Develop and implement lesson plans, as needed, to support student learning and achievement Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff to create a productive and inclusive learning environment Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, teaching strategies, and professional growth opportunities Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in education and enhance your teaching skills Essential Qualifications To be successful as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll need: An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor A valid NJ Substitute Credential A clear background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications can enhance your application: Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Specialized training or certifications in areas like Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education Experience working with diverse student populations and developing culturally responsive teaching practices What We Offer At Scoot Education, we're committed to supporting our substitutes and helping them succeed.
