About the Role As a Tutor Advisor, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support services to students in need of academic intervention, focusing on grades 6-8. You'll work closely with certified teachers to ensure students receive the guidance they need to succeed. This position requires a strong foundation in education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one tutoring to students as scheduled, ensuring they receive personalized support outside of regular classroom instruction. Assist with classroom management, including organizing instructional materials and maintaining a supportive learning environment. Compile and maintain accurate student records, tracking attendance, testing results, progress, and other relevant factors. Offer information, materials, and instructional support to classroom instructors, enhancing the overall educational experience. Conduct parent involvement activities, including phone calls, written communication, and home visits to foster active participation in students' education. Coordinate parent/family school functions, promoting a sense of community and cooperation between home and school. Attend meetings and parent conferences, providing valuable insights and facilitating communication between students, parents, and school administration. Provide support in library or media center settings, expanding your role in the educational ecosystem. Conduct progress monitoring assessments and maintain accurate records, helping to identify areas where students need additional support. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the team's success. Essential Qualifications To excel in this role, you'll need: A minimum of 48 semester credits (two years) of study at an institution of higher education, an associate's degree, or a rigorous standard of quality, as well as the ability to demonstrate knowledge of and assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics. Effective communication skills, with the ability to function as a team member and interact with students, staff, and parents. The capacity to carry out and evaluate student achievement under the guidance of a teacher. Adequate instructional technology skills, ensuring you're equipped to support modern educational needs. Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds in an instructional setting, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
