Job Overview and Responsibilities In this critical role, you will be responsible for analyzing and verifying financial data related to payment processing, operations, and fees, as well as identifying areas for process improvement. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring accurate fare distribution, revenue splits, and compliance with industry regulations. As a key member of our Revenue Accounting team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, revenue management, and external partners, to drive business growth and optimize revenue streams. Analyze and verify ticketing and booking records to ensure accurate fare distribution and adjust as necessary Reconcile ticket revenue, ensuring the correct split of revenue between airlines based on proration rules Ensure proper fare allocation between multiple airlines in interline or code-share agreements Generate detailed reports on proration calculations, revenue splits, and performance for internal and external stakeholders Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and airline industry practices regarding fare distribution, proration, and interline agreements Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate reflection of proration calculations in financial systems and reports Work closely with revenue management teams to align proration practices with overall revenue goals and pricing strategies Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, you will need a strong foundation in finance, accounting, or a related field, as well as relevant work experience in revenue accounting or a similar field. You should possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field Minimum 3 years of related work experience in revenue accounting or a similar field Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with industry-specific software and systems (e.g., Sabre, Amadeus, Travelport) Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Master's or advanced degree in a related field Experience with airline industry software and tools (e.g., GDS, accounting systems) Understanding of airline industry regulations, proration rules, and fare structures Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) Certifications in accounting or finance (e.g., CPA, CMA) Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members.
