About the Role: Piano Lessons Teacher As a Piano Lessons Teacher at West Music, you'll play a vital role in delivering personalized music instruction to students aged 5 years to adult. You'll be responsible for conducting regular lessons, typically on a weekly basis, and evaluating student performance through practice sessions and performance opportunities. Our ideal candidate is someone who is not only an expert in piano instruction but also a skilled communicator, able to connect with students and parents alike. Key Responsibilities: Identify the educational needs of each student and create a tailored learning format to suit their abilities. Prepare course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts, to support student learning. Explain and demonstrate musical techniques using a variety of sources, adapting your teaching style to meet the needs of individual students. Prepare students for performances, contests, or assessments, providing constructive feedback and guidance. Maintain accurate student attendance records and other required records, ensuring compliance with West Music's policies. Communicate effectively with students and parents (where applicable) on student progress, providing positive and constructive feedback. Collaborate with store personnel to maximize the lesson experience, ensuring a seamless and supportive learning environment. Utilize provided learning management tools to track student progress, assign practices, and monitor attendance. Complete weekly timesheets and perform required training and compliance tasks using our payroll and human resource information system. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices by reading current literature, interacting with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. Essential Qualifications: To succeed in this role, you'll need: Two years of prior teaching experience, preferably in piano instruction. A strong understanding of music concepts and theory, with the ability to communicate effectively to students of all ages. Availability to teach lessons during scheduled hours of operation at the West Music location in Davenport, IA. Preferred Qualifications: While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A college degree in a music-related field or equivalent teaching experience. A proven track record of delivering high-quality music instruction and achieving positive student outcomes.
