Job Overview In this critical role, you will be responsible for modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision, and providing support with various pharmacy operations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that our customers and patients receive exceptional service, have their questions answered, and leave our store feeling valued and satisfied. You will also play a key role in maintaining the overall appearance and efficiency of our pharmacy, including inventory management, displays, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Registers sales on assigned cash register and provides customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service. Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Engages customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Provides customers with recommendations for items for sale, trade-up, and/or companion items. Maintains accurate records, keeps counters and shelves clean and well-merchandised, and takes inventory as required. Performs duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, and assisting with scheduling and maintaining workflow. Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Handles telephone calls, processes manual claims for third-party program prescription services, and performs other clerical duties as assigned. Assists and supports the Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products and maintains knowledge of company asset protection techniques. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers, patients, and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner. You should be highly organized, able to multitask, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. A strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to operate a cash register and other retail equipment are also essential. Additionally, you should be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and move around the store to perform various tasks. Preferred Qualifications While not required, having a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as previous experience in a retail or customer service environment, would be highly beneficial. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) or completion of a pharmacy technician training program is also preferred. If you have experience working with pharmacy systems, have knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy practices, or have completed continuing education credits, you will be highly competitive for this role.
