Experienced Online Crisis Chat Text Supervisor for 988 Crisis Services - Leadership and Mental Health Support Expertise Required

This role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Crisis Chat Program, ensuring that our services are delivered with the highest level of quality, empathy, and professionalism. Job Overview and Responsibilities The Online Crisis Chat Text Supervisor will play a critical role in the success of our 988 Crisis Chat Program. This position will involve supervising a team of Crisis Chat Counselors, providing guidance and support to ensure that all chat and text visitors receive the help they need. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a strong background in mental health services, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The key responsibilities of this role include: Providing supervision and support to Crisis Chat Counselors, including monitoring of all crisis chats and ensuring that each Counselor completes 1.5 chats/texts per hour Conducting risk assessments, safety planning, and de-escalation techniques to ensure the well-being of chat and text visitors Building positive rapport with a wide range of chat and text visitors, including those who are suicidal or in crisis Coordinating with emergency responders when active rescue is required, and providing follow-up support to chat and text visitors as needed Ensuring that thorough documentation is completed for all crisis chats and texts, and that the program responds to a minimum of 2,171 chats/texts per month Providing daily ongoing monitoring of chats and texts to ensure quality, with an expectation of Counselors scoring a minimum of 75% on the quality evaluation Conducting weekly individual supervision sessions with Counselors, and completing weekly quality assurance reports Providing training to new Crisis Chat Counselors, and completing performance evaluations and yearly reviews Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess: A Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred A minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention services, suicide prevention, and intervention Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to function successfully in an environment requiring immediate response to urgent situations Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations Computer skills with various software, including Microsoft Products, and the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly A strong understanding of local and statewide community resources, with the ability to provide information and referral to visitors as needed Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred: Experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with a proven track record of success in managing teams and developing staff Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, including risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals from varying cultural, socioeconomic, and demographic backgrounds Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our staff.
