Job Overview In this exciting role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our live streaming pipeline, ensuring the delivery of high-quality video and audio content to our global audience. As a key member of our Live Streaming Pipeline team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement scalable, efficient, and reliable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our live streaming platform. Your expertise in video foundation and tooling will be instrumental in helping us optimize our live video streaming capabilities and improve the overall viewer experience. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain media encoding pipelines, streaming media workflows, and workflow orchestration layers for on-premises and cloud media handling components. Collaborate with the Live Transmission Operations team to develop and implement services and guidelines that enable live operations at scale. Implement infrastructure, tools, and applications to monitor critical operational workflows in the live video space in real-time, including the development of tools for the Live Transmission Operations team to manage and troubleshoot live video streams. Develop automation and quality control checks to alert operators of any ongoing issues with existing live streams. Support live streams and events, ensuring high quality throughout the transmission chain. Work with flexible hours based on the live events schedule, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 4+ years of hands-on professional experience in back-end systems development and 3+ years of experience with live streaming workflows. Proficient programming skills and strong experience with Java/Go. Strong experience with scripting languages and automation tools. Familiarity with operation, metrics, dashboard, and alerting. A solid understanding of digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, delivery protocols, and related technologies such as Multicast and Unicast video distribution, MPEG Video (2,4, and HEVC), MPEG-2 TS, AVC/HEVC/DD+, Atmos, HDR, SCTE-35 and ESNI signaling, closed captions, satellite video distribution, and ad stitching. Experience with video transport protocols such as RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi, RIST, HLS, and MPEG-DASH. Familiarity with audio/video codecs, HDR (HDR10/Dolby Vision), and DRM technologies (Fairplay, Playready, Widevine). Experience with client-side and server-side dynamic ad insertion, including technical architecture and design suggestions. Comfort with the software development lifecycle and software-based tools and workflows. Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following skills and experience are highly desirable: Expertise in encoding profiles, bitrate ladders, and video compression technologies. Experience with AWS, command-line operations (Linux/Windows), and open-source multimedia systems. Familiarity with feed contribution and shaping equipment, including encoders, decoders, format converters, and similar equipment in either baseband or ST 2110 spaces.
