Job Summary In this critical role, you will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, you will provide expert support in carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. As an ocean subject matter expert, you will collaborate with sales and operations teams to drive business growth, improve competitiveness, and deliver exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, while supporting adherence to the preferred network Assist in developing and implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the Trade Lane Manager to enhance the effectiveness of sales and achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, the global trade lane team, sales, and operations Provide direct and indirect customer contact, ensuring exceptional service quality and resolving issues promptly Collaborate with product, sales, and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing risk exposure and enhancing service quality Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, promoting the ocean product and supporting sales and operations as needed Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is essential Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to various stakeholders Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Advanced degree in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business Professional certifications, such as a Certified International Freight Forwarder (CIFF) or a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Experience working with global trade lanes, sales, and operations teams Knowledge of industry-specific software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) or global trade management (GTM) systems Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct teams to achieve business objectives Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the international freight forwarding industry and global trade trends Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At arenaflex, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
