Job Overview As a Big Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be an integral part of our product engineering or delivery and integration team, reporting to an Engineering Lead. You will have the opportunity to work alongside talented engineers in a collaborative environment where your contributions are valued. Your primary focus will be on software development, with intermediate to advanced level capacity in programming improvement. You will participate in code reviews, digital testing, and troubleshooting of essential programming components. Additionally, you will enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments. Key Responsibilities Software Development: Develop and test software, including ongoing refactoring of code, and drive continuous improvement in code structure and quality. Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews and digital testing to ensure high-quality software development. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot essential programming components and identify code defects for remediation. Deployment: Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments. Automation: Automate arrangements in test or production environments and scale applications based on demand projections. Leadership: Lead a small team of engineers and inspire them to achieve their full potential. Innovation: Influence colleagues with innovative changes and improvements by challenging the norm and demonstrating risk-taking. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. You should also have: 3+ years of software development experience and leading teams of engineers and scrum teams. 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Map Reduce, Hive, Spark (core, SQL, and PySpark). Strong Data warehousing concepts and knowledge of financial reporting environments. Expertise in Distributed environment and programming using Core Java or Python/Scala. Experience with UNIX shell scripting and ability to design and develop complex data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create and document technical and functional specifications. Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with: Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP/AWS, building Microservices, and scalable solutions. 3+ years of experience in designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues. Experience with GitHub/Bitbucket and using CI/CD pipelines. Experience with NoSQL databases like HBase, Couchbase, MongoDB. Excellent technical and business acumen, with strong communication and project management skills.
