Key Responsibilities Set a high standard of in-flight service, including serving hot and cold meals/drinks and selling onboard products. Handle a wide variety of situations while in continuous contact with the public, both on and off the aircraft. Work independently while still being part of a cooperative team and without supervision. Ensure the safety and comfort of our clients. Provide leadership by responding to a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. Work in diverse environments and locations across the globe and work variable shifts. Meet our high standards of reliability to ensure our flights are on time. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and attendance/performance standards. Be flexible with alternative plans for getting work done, including nights and weekends. Demonstrate your ability to adapt to the airline steward lifestyle. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher. Height and weight should be proportionate to ensure safe operation of the aircraft. Pass a pre-work drug test. Pass a TSA-required fingerprint-based criminal history records check and background investigation. Possess a valid U.S. or foreign identification with relevant visas. Have the lawful right to work in the U.S. and ability to travel unrestricted to/from all states and countries served by American Airlines. Able to relocate based on the company's operational needs if applicable. Available to work late shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours if necessary. Available to be on standby and report for duty at your assigned base (reserve duty). Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience in a customer-facing role. Ability to speak multiple languages. Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Ability to read, write, make statements, provide emergency instructions, and communicate in the English language. Ability to perform all safety-related procedures. Service-oriented with a strong desire to deliver exceptional customer service. Self-starter with a positive attitude and a strong motivation for success. Skilled in handling difficult situations, problem-solving, grievance resolution, and conflict de-escalation. Ability to work with people and teams at all levels within the organization.
