Job Overview The Family Services Assistant will play a vital role in supporting high needs families or those in immediate crisis, working closely with classroom staff to provide comprehensive services that promote family well-being, positive parent-child relationships, and family engagement. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a hybrid model, combining remote work with time in our office, and to be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of families and children. Key Responsibilities Promote the healthy development of the whole family by establishing mutual trusting and respectful relationships, providing support and advocacy to parents and families, and enhancing parenting skills and positive parent-child development. Facilitate parent education curriculum as needed and develop working knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start Parent Policy Council bylaws, assisting with recruitment and support of elected site representatives and Policy Council members. Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure children and families receive comprehensive services, providing relationship-based support to families to assist in skill development needed to achieve their goals. Conduct or participate in home visits as needed, complete screenings, assessments, and applications with families, and generate reports and enter data in ChildPlus, Service Point, and other program systems as required. Maintain organized files, workflow schedules, and standards, including photocopy production, interoffice mail distribution, and phone responsiveness. Essential Qualifications Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of related experience working with families and a related ORO Step 7. Demonstrated proficiency in technology tools, such as Microsoft Office applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and work cooperatively and in collaboration with diverse staff and clients. Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and work independently, demonstrating initiative and creative problem-solving skills. Must be able to successfully pass applicable background and Oregon Central Background Registry checks prior to new hire processing and beginning actual employment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field, with at least one year of experience working with families in a similar role. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English, with the ability to translate written materials from English to Spanish or Spanish to English. Experience with and/or knowledge of Head Start, social service systems, or non-profit organizations.
